Hi all!
Thank you all for another great meeting! We had Michele Duval-Martin from CLAS advising come in and give us a presentation on the Early Assurance Program that GVSU has between us and some medical schools in Michigan.
Announcements:
Your Health Lecture Series: GR Street Medicine Lecture Thursday November 20th 7-8pm at the GVSU health campus
Register for a free practice MCAT exam by November 4th
Club Fundraising opportunity: Double Good Popcorn online fundraiser Dec 15-19
Here's the recap:
EAP is an opportunity for early medical school admission for GVSU students in their junior and senior years. Preference is given to those interested in serving in underserved communities as well as those interested in primary care, those who are first generation medical students, and those from a low income high school.
EAP timeline differs a bit from the typical medical school application cycle:
Work on and submit application which opens December 1st and closes January 31st
Attend interviews if invited in late March
Take MCAT no later than mid-June
GVSU partners with three schools for this program: CMU, Wayne State, and MSUCHM (MD program)
More information can be found on the CLAS advising page: https://www.gvsu.edu/clasadvising/early-assurance-programs-eap-265.htm
If you're interested in the EAP program, you must attend a self-assessment workshop. Registration can be found at the link above.
See you all for our last meeting of the semester next Tuesday, 12/2!
